Noe Valley
One of my friend from LA came up to visit this weekend so we decided to go to Noe Valley in SF because we've heard that it's a cute place to walk around. I have to say that i wasn't too impress with the place, there weren't that much around but lots of cute boutiques with overpriced clothes. Two of our favorite stores were the Cheese Co. and the Chocolate shop that didn't have a name. The funny thing is that I actually learned a lot about chocolate from the store owner. The different regions grows different types of cocoa powders, and how the percentage of cocoa content affects the texture and taste of a chocolate bar. At first we felt really overwhelmed by all the different types of chocolate, but with his recommendation, we bought 4 different types to try. I would say that unless you like the dry cocoa powder taste, otherwise don't go for anything more than 75% cocoa content, it kinda taste like mud... At the end of the day, i think we all agreed that the dark chocolate with 65-70% cocoa is the PERFECT combination. It gives you the sweetness of a dark chocolate, yet you get the smooth and creamy texture of a milk chocolate. It was more than yummy... in fact we ate it all!

i heard that dark chocolate is healthy so i've been eating it more often. :) i figured, if i'm gonna eat fat and sugar, i'd go for the good brands. lindt excellence dark chocolate (70% cocoa) is not too bad and the price is decent. $2.30 a bar. Scharffen Berger is made in emeryville and it's REALLY good but $$. it has different %'s and cocoa pieces in the chocolate. it almost feels more healthy. heh heh. anyone wanna go visit the factory?
